René Roubíček

(b. 1922) Czech Republic
Roubíček received the Grand Prix at the 1956 Brussels Expo for his spatial glass collage, a work that was a major influence on Czech glass during the 1960s.

Music and rhythm have an enormous influence on Roubicek, permeating the structure of many of his works and in how he uses colour. In recent years, he has explored construction and columns, for instance setting a sheet of pure glass set at a specific angle to the base of a column and then intersects it with elongated drops of
funnels of stained glass.
